There's a thin line between erotic art and photography, if there is a line at all. The used medium, the camera, however demands a different approach of the subject.

Met Art Photography
|
The Met Art concept ( featuring young naked women, in mainly softcore imagery ) was new and refreshing when they launched their website(s) in 1999. And it’s still one of the best visited erotic site’s online, with a ranking around 700 in Alexa. With all the free erotic images and movies these days that’s quite an achievement.
Initially they focused on just displaying nudity, their “nudes in nature”, or “nudes on a chair” are nearly archetypical for the genre. The photographic quality was mediocre, and it had no artistic pretensions at all. To stay ahead of the competition this rapidly changed and they started to ask some professional photographers to contribute their work to the Met Art network. Photographers like Tony Ward, Roy Stuard and Richard Murrian created multiple collections for the network, and the overall quality improved dramatically.
Today Met Art offers both, the usual “naked woman on a bed” series ( nothing wrong with, but it doesn’t pretend to be more the just that ) AND some highly erotic artistic photography, from some of the best photographers out there. And I guess it’s this mix that keeps them on top.
